The Enlightened Worldview Project
Traditional religion is flawed but so is secularism
-
Traditional religions are based on:
Faith in a so-called holy book
Followers of different holy books
disagree with each other on which
is the correct holy book
Followers of the same holy book
disagree with each other on
what their holy book means
Ultimately this comes down to
adherence to authority and
tradition
-
Followers of traditional religions are
often ignorant of and hostile to the
findings of modern science
-
Secularism rejects religion and spirituality outright and
is driven by modern science
-
But it seems that secularism leaves
out important areas of life such as:
That there might be a special
significance to conscious
An ultimate explanation for the universe
The possibility of inherent meaning and
purpose for life
These areas are outside of the
realm of science
-
Perhaps a holy book can claim to answer
these great questions of life...
but we have seen the negative impact
of people having blind faith in these
books as the absolute truth
-
But there is a another path that we can take that avoids
the problems of both traditional religion
and secularism: reasoned spirituality
-
We can find a reasoned spirituality through modern
phenomenology, which is a scientific discipline through
which we can explore our own consciousness and also to better
understand the inner experiences of other conscious beings
-
Through reasoned spirituality that is guided by phenomenology,
we can find a worldview that is more enlightened than
any traditional religion and any form of secularism
-
A worldview such as this could possibly help build bridges
between people and lead to a more peaceful and prosperous future
