A Quest to Promote Peace through
Societal Understanding and Inner Awareness
Project Overview
-
The Enlightened Worldview Project
It doesn't take much thought to see that our world has become
deeply divided and tribal. Our Opinions and worldviews appear to
be solidified and intractable.
But what if there was a way out of this stalemate? What if a group
of researchers, writers and thinkers were to explore the very
structure of knowledge and find historical connections - showing
areas of commonality? What if elements of philosophy, science,
psychology and history helped us to form a new methodology
that could improve relationships, help our public discourse or
improve our understanding of how society works?
These are all possible outcomes for The Enlightened Worldview
Project, and through the next several slides, you will see how
these efforts might benefit many of us.
Let's take a look at how we get there.
Imagine
-
The Enlightened Worldview Project
Overcoming Fear,
anger and tribalism
The challenge
Miscommunication and
misunderstanding
Weaponized news,
deliberately false
information and
hyperpartisanship.
A highly charged
social atmosphere,
damaging to our
public discourse
Seemingly
incompatible moral
and philosophical
frameworks
The challenge is to find methods that will help bridge these divides.
-
The Enlightened Worldview Project
The undesired outcome
Ideologically based
decision making
Deepening, embedded or
emotionally solidified positions
Discussions that dismiss
facts and reason
Lack of productive communication
and trust among people
-
The Enlightened Worldview Project
The desired outcome
Understanding the fundamentals of
today’s major worldviews so that
people might see commonalities in
basic values
A clear pathway to greater inner
peace and societal awareness
created by this new framework.
An understanding of the structure of
knowledge, science, religion, spirituality
and the differences, commonalities
therein leading to an epistemology
that can apply to all aspects of life.
Improved ways to frame our
conversations, leading to an
improvement in our public discourse

The Enlightened Worldview Project
Proposed solution
Phase 02
Development phase.
Merge the best ideas and
construct new methods.
Phase 01
Exploratory phase.
Research, write and build a
case for a more rational
and enlightened path.
Phase 03
Test and apply methods
created in Phase Two.
-
The Enlightened Worldview Project
Describe, research and write about our
current rhetorical and social climate -
globally, politically, and philosophically
so that people understand the true
impact of fear, misinformation, anger,
and tribalism.
Use this information
to formulate a new
methodology for
modern
phenomenology.
Analyze the
foundations of
knowledge formation
and science
-
The Enlightened Worldview Project
Analyze the dichotomy
between objectivity -
and subjectivity.
Explore different aspects
of phenomenology in
order to arrive at a
paradigm shift - a new
scientific methodology
that incorporates
phenomenology.
Explore new methods
that can bridge the
gap between
religiously minded
and scientifically
minded people, e.g.
“reasoned spirituality.”
Look at how such a new
method might help us to
build a new framework
for productive
discussions or ways of
speaking that are
conducive to good
dialogue and agreement.

The Enlightened Worldview Project
Why the proposed
solution is likely
to succeed and
unlikely to fail.
The risk remover
Many, not one voice, are involved in the discovery process, i.e.
People from different points of view are involved in the writing
process.
Use a Meta-view of reality, i.e. not approaching the topic from
one point of view, but from a non-partisan vantage point.
Utilize many different ways of presenting the information, e.g.
book, blog posts, podcasts, discussion groups, public events in
order to present the ideas and solutions to different types of thinkers
and learners.
An open-sourced method to achieving success
-
The Enlightened Worldview Project

The Enlightened Worldview Project
Brandon Norgaard
Founder, Author, and Project Director
Brandon is the creator and founder of The Enlightened
Worldview Project. Brandon has always possessed an
interest in understanding how things work and
appreciated learning about philosophy, religion, history,
politics, science, and technology. Throughout his life,
Brandon wanted to better understand why there is so
much conflict and injustice in our world and what, if
anything, people can do to work toward greater peace.
Graphic Design and Educational Outreach
Jayme is a graphic designer and registered yoga
teacher. She believes that when we approach life with
an open heart, engage with others from a place of
compassion, guide others from a place of authenticity,
and move through the world with a sense of purpose,
an awakening from within occurs.
Contributing Writer and Marketing
Wendy has worked as a journalist and she has directed
many successful marketing campaigns. She has written
books about hiking and camping and continues to share
her passion for the outdoors, health, and wellness as a
yoga and fitness instructor. As a writer, Wendy’s goal is
to inspire a shift in her readers that leads to greater
awareness and understanding.
Content Development and Conceptual Analysis
Lee runs a consulting group called GliderCell, which
produces creative concepts and strategies across
disciplines. He did some early work in creating an
educational model that incorporated concepts from
chaos theory. Many of the ideas stemming from this
research can be applied broadly to organizations or to
socio-political challenges.
Video Production
Katie has been producing documentary films since
2005. She is serving the State of California working as
the video content director for the California Department
of Justice, where she resides on the frontlines of critical
political fights to ensure that our environment, our
people, and our nation remain protected now and for
future generations.
